Definition of rider classification

Randonneur
A randonneur is a participant in the sport known as randonneuring or Audax. A randonneur enters a randonneuring event known as a randonnée or brevet. A brevet is an organised long-distance, non-competitive bicycle ride of 200 km or longer.

The most famous randonnée is the 1200 km Paris-Brest-Paris which dates back to 1891. PBP is run every 4 years with the 16th randonnée edition taking place in August 2007.

Ultra
Ultra is simply a general term for long-distance competitive bicycle rides of 300 km or longer. An ultra cyclist is usually a solo rider with a support crew.

The most famous? and longest of the ultra races is without doubt the annual Race Across America.

2-Person Relay team
This classification is specific to Stockholm-Göteborg non-stop.

Relay members take turns riding between control stations. While one rider is on the road the other is being transported to the next control station in the team car.
The team car will follow a route different to that of the rider and may not assist the team outside of the control stations.

When cycling between control stations a relay team member is effectively riding as a randonneur.
